(KSL News) -- A shooting that killed a man near Murray yesterday was the result of a love triangle.
A long standing dispute between Allen Kelly and Brent Sumner came to a head yesterday afternoon. That's when detectives say Kelly shot Sumner at a house near State Street, right in front of the woman.
Police say Kelly then fled and deputies surrounded his parents' home in West Valley City. Because there were several rifles inside the home, officers didn't expect Kelly to come out without a fight.
Dep. Peggy Faulkner, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "We were fully expecting to have a SWAT team have to go in and get him. But once we got a hold of him on the phone, we got his parents out of the house, and got a hold of him by phone, he came right out of the house."

The girlfriend was only one of several witnesses to the shooting.
Kelly has a criminal history involving drugs and assault. And investigators say he had Sumner had recently had other confrontations over the woman.
