(Salt Lake City-AP) -- A Sandy woman and her boyfriend have been charged with aggravated arson and insurance fraud in a house fire.

Leigh Janet Hardy and Douglas Rex Young are accused in the house fire in Sandy on July 26th, 2001. Young is in federal custody and has been talking with prosecutors about a possible plea bargain in a bank robbery case.

Couple Accused of Torching House for Insurance Money

Hardy lived in the house with her daughter. Young sometimes stayed there. Hardy made appointments to meet with the health department but canceled them. She canceled her last appointment because her house was on fire.

Investigators determined the blaze was started in a downstairs bedroom with turpentine.
