(KSL News) Amidst all the media hoopla of the new Elizabeth Smart book, one of the defendants in the case takes center stage.
A status conference will be held for Brian David Mitchell later this afternoon.
Mitchell, who is accused of kidnapping the teenager, will not be present in court.
His lawyers and a judge, however, will be discussing his mental evaluation report and whether Mitchell is ready to stand trial on the charges.
