Sandra Yi ReportingIf you were on the road today, you probably saw a lot of troopers.

Well, there are even more out tonight, as the Highway Patrol started a DUI sweep a few minutes before 10 pm.

Trooper Dana Wallace/ Utah Highway Patrol: "I think we'll get quite a few dui's tonight."

It's a frightening thought, but the UHP says the number of people who drink and drive has gone up over the past few Halloweens. In fact, one trooper tells us some statistics show there are more impaired drivers on the road on Halloween than on New Year's.

This holiday may not be an exception. It IS Friday night and a lot of people are out partying and drinking. Troopers say tonight could be worse, because the roads are wet, and there are more kids out as well.

Trooper Dana Wallace/ Utah Highway Patrol: "It's the most horrible thing in the world, to pull up on an accident and see a little kid involved."

"If you love your kids and if you're just a decent human being, you'll be aware of people and hopefully not drive if you drink."

There are 85 extra troopers keeping an eye on the roads and looking out for drunk drivers. That's a lot more than the number of troopers involved in a typical DUI crackdown.

Earlier today, troopers targeted agressive drivers. Again, the dui crackdown started just before 10 pm and will continue until 3:00 in the morning.
