SALT LAKE CITY -- Retailers are begging people not to run through stores this year to beat others to good deals. Salt Lake's Best Buy Sales and Services Manager Casey Koopmans says security will even kick you out.
"We've always stressed that if anyone runs, they are out of the building. It's not even worth the risk of having an accident here," he says.
Koopmans says most stores will have enough inventory; there's no need for a big rush when the doors open.
"Safety's number one. There's no deal worth getting hurt over, I guarantee you that," he says.
Many Best Buys had full-scale dress rehearsals to predict traffic flow and make adjustments. Target stores plan to spread out hot items in different areas of the store and provide maps.
Last year a Walmart employee in New York was trampled to death by the running crowd. This year Walmart will stay open on Thanksgiving and through the night to avoid an early Friday rush.
