(KSL News) -- The National Medal of Arts is now in Utah with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
During last night's weekly rehearsal, Choir President Mac Christensen placed the bronze disc around the neck of music director, Craig Jessop.
The singers received the nation's highest honor for artistic excellence from President Bush on Wednesday.
The ceremony took place in the Oval Office... Christensen told last night's gathering how he greeted the president.
"BUT AS I WALKED IN, HE KIND OF HANDS HIS ARMS OUT, SO, I GAVE HIM A BIG SQUEEZE"
Choir members also applauded the thousands and thousands of singers who came before them.
