(KSL News) -- A birthday celebration turned violent last night in Salt Lake City.
Police say a verbal fight between two men turned into a physical fight that ended up in the front yard near 949 W. 300 North.
During the fight one of the men decided to get his gun and fire several shots at the other person.
He missed his intended target, and instead hit and killed the family dog.
Both men fled the scene before police arrived.
