(KSL News) -- A fire damaged a clothing store in Sandy tonight.

The blazes started in the attic of a Gen X Clothing store at 799 E. 9400 South.

It was shoppers who first noticed smoke coming down from the attic.

The sprinklers went off... and put out the fire.

Although the store had patrons inside when the fire started, no one was hurt.

Dep. Chief Mike Veenendaal Sandy Fire Dept. : "THE STORE WAS OPEN. PEOPLE WERE SHOPPING AT THE TIME. AND, UH, THEY HAD TO EVACUATE THE STORE."

Firefighters took out the store's ceiling to ensure the fire was completely out.

Authorities quickly had the situation under control... and now the problem is the water and smoke damage.

The store faces up to 70-thousand dollars worth of structure and content damage.

Invesitgators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
