(KSL News) -- Student leaders at the University of Utah tonight got a final chance to say goodbye to the outgoing president.
Students attended a reception to pay tribute to Bernie Machen.
They say he'll leave a void when he heads for his new post at the University of Florida.
Devan Hite Student Interfaith Council:"I hope that whoever replaces him has the same enthusiasm for diversity on campus"
Jana Baldwin-Francis Greek System: "He's been a major help in improving neighborhood relations. He's helped us voice our opinions when needed."
"Bernie Machen, Chris Machen: "This is what it's all about. When you're at a university, you're really here for the students. And to watch them grow and to hear they have meaning for somthing we've done is the most rewarding thing that's happenned to me in six years."
In fact, they're spending their last day in office, rooting for the Utes in Memphis at the Liberty Bowl.
