WEST VALLEY CITY -- Police are searching for someone who drove past a West Valley City apartment Sunday night and shot a teenager sitting inside.
Police said the 17-year-old was watching a movie with his family just after 8:30 p.m. when the car approached the building near 1800 West and 2500 South and someone inside the car started shooting.
A bullet hit the teen in the leg.
"From what the neighbors were telling us, the vehicle sped out of the neighborhood rapidly after firing probably six or seven shots into the apartment building," said Lt. Dalan Taylor with the West Valley City Police Department.
The teen was taken to the hospital in serious condition but was expected to make a full recovery.
Investigators did not have a good description of the shooter or the car.
They said they didn't believe the shooting was gang-related.
