(KSL News) -- It will soon be easier to identify repeat DUI offenders in Utah.
By next month all 138 justice courts will be linked to the Utah Department of Public Safety database.
That means the courts will be able to check intoxicated motorists for prior convictions in difference jurisdictions.
Drunken driving, normally a class B misdemeanor, becomes a felony on the third offense -- punishable by a prison sentence.
The database change was mandated by the state legislature.
