(Logan-AP) -- Cody Lynn Nielsen may take the stand in his own defense as his capital murder trial gets under way today.
Nielsen's accused of kidnapping 15-year old Trisha Autry in June 2000, killing her, dismembering her body and burying it near a research lab where he worked. The defense will begin building their case today, which may include calling Nielsen to the stand.
If he testifies, the prosecution will be allowed to introduce more evidence against Nielsen.
Nielsen could face the death penalty if he's convicted.
