:00 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 24, Park City 19

Highlights from this game should be posted sometime between 2:30 and 3:00. Just a few notes to wrap up this game. I think Park City may look back at this game and wonder what would have happened in this game had they attempted field goals on their trips to the red zone that came up empty in the 2nd half. Ultimately, you have to give the Hurricane defense a lot of credit for stopping a team with a running back who averages 13 yards a carry. The Tigers were able to overcome 5 fumbles, 3 of them lost, to reach a 2nd straight 3A championship game. They will get their chance for revenge, something the players talked about after the game.

Also, who would have thought that Jarom Healy would outgain Dylan Chynoweth. It happened. Chynoweth finished with 137 yards and 1 TD and averaged 5.7 yards a carry. Healy rushed for 147 yards and 2 TD's while averaging 5.8 per carry.

Not so fast my friends! Park City forces anothe fumble and the Miners have life once again. They must drive 95 yards in 1:14 with 1 timeout.

Hurricane 24, Park City 19

that should do it for the Tigers. I must head down to the field to get post game interviews. I will be back soon to wrap up this game. We will do our best to have highlights and interviews posted within the hour of the conclusion of this game.

2:11 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 24, Park City 19

on 3rd and 10 Walker threw a pass that found the fingertips of a Hurricane defender but the receiver made a nice play to come back and knock down the ball. Then on 4th and 10 Walker went deep to his receiver. The pass was on target but it bounced off the receiver's hands. Hurricane takes over on downs.

2:23 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 24, Park City 19

The kickoff went into the end zone so the Miners will have to drive 80 yards for the win.

2:23 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 24, Park City 19

Park City came just inches away from blocking the attempt but Hurricane has made a 31 yard field goal to take a 5 point lead. Park City will get the ball with a chance to win the game. They have 2:23 left on the clock and two timeouts.

2:28 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 19

Park City gets the stop they need on 3rd and 13. They call a timeout to stop the clock.

2:53 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 19

Hurricane just dodged a bullet. The Tigers fumble on the 22 yard line but they are able to recover. After an 8 yard gain following the fumble, the Tigers face a 3rd and 12.

4:33 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 19

The Hurricane run game is rolling on this drive. A personal foul call on Park City has helped the Miners cause. It's first and 10 tigers at the Miners 24 yard line.

5:03 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 19

You can't help but wonder what would have happened if Park City had tried to kick field goals on their trips into the red zone in the 2nd half. This game would be much different.

5:55 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 19

Park City has just made this interesting. Erik Walker completed a 17 yard pass to Brian Schettler who fought his way into the end zone. The Miners are within two points with plenty of time. Too early for the onside kick but they kick the ball out of bounds and Hurricane starts at their own 35 yard line.

6:48 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

Park City passed on 1st and 2nd down with no luck. So on 3rd down they go with the reverse and Brian Schettler gets the 1st down for 18 yards. A nice run by Erik Walker after that has Park City in the red zone.

7:00 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

With 7 minutes left in the game Park City starts this drive at their own 36 yard line. This is do or die for the Miners. Time is running out against this tough Tigers defense.

7:09 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

With 7:09 left in the 4th quarter Hurricane has their first pass completion of the game. Unfortunately for the Tigers it wasn't enough for a first down and they will punt.

8:17 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

Three trips in the red zone in the 2nd half for Park City and each time they have come up empty. They must not have any confidence in their kicker.

11:10 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

The Hurricane defense just came up with another big stop. Park City went for it on 4th and 8. Walker completed a pass to Chynoweth but he only picked up 6. Hurricane takes over on downs at their own 15 yard line.

12:00 Fourth Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

Great question Mr. Football. They have made a couple questionable decisions. Going for it earlier in the game on 4th and 2 in their own territory was a strange call too.

:00 Third Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

Another Tiger Turnover! Park City forces a fumble and has great field position once again. They will face a 3rd and 8 at the Tigers 20 yard line when the 4th quarter begins.

:58 Third Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

On 3rd and 13 Hurricane running back Jarom Healy picked up 12 yards. Then on 4th and 1, the Tigers make the gutsy decision to go for it in their own 25 yard line. Healy made his coaches look smart by grinding for a 1st down on a 2 yard carry.

2:45 Third Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

On 4th and 5, Hurricane comes up with a huge stop. Chynoweth took the option pitch from Walker and was quickly stuffed by Jarom Healy. For the 2nd straight drive, the Miners come up short in the red zone. Hurricane takes over on downs at their own 14 yard line.

5:48 Third Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

Park City quarterback Erik Walker should throw the ball more. He just completed an 18 yard pass to Dillon Olsen for a 1st down. Dylan Chynoweth just picked up a 1st down at the 17 yard line which led to a nice collision. Alphonso Thompson #10 was shaken up on the play.

6:41 Third Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

I appreciate being nominated for "The Good Updater Award" SaraSoda. I'll take anything I can get. Park City is facing 3rd and 10 at the Tigers 47 yard line.

9:01 Third Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

Turnover! Park City gets the big stop that they needed by forcing a fumble after the Tigers picked up the 4th down conversion. The Miners take over at their own 39 yard line.

9:13 Third Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

The Tigers had little resistance on 4th and 1. Jarom Healy ran for 5 yards.

10:45 Third Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

It is crucial for Park City to get a stop on Hurricane's opening drive of the 2nd half. So far it isn't happening as the Tigers have already moved the ball into Park City territory but they now face a 4th and 1 at the 43 yard line.

Hurricane 21, Park City 12

Here are some interesting halftime stats:

PC running back Dylan Chynoweth already has a 100 yard rushing game, 15 carries for 110 yards and a TD. Chynoweth has rushed for atleast 100 yards in 12 of 13 games this season. Juan Diego is the only team to hold him under 100 (52). He has also had 4 200 yard games and has scored atleast 1 touchdown in all 13 games this season. Very impressive.

Jarom Healy leads Hurricane with 8 carries for 70 yards and 2 TD's.

Hurricane has scored 21 points without completing a single pass.

The Tigers are 3 for 4 on 3rd down. Park City is 3 of 7. Hurricane is also 3 for 3 in the red zone.

:00 Second Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

A tough break for Park City. Erik Walker threw a nice pass to Andy Proctor but he fumbled the ball at the 13 yard line and Hurricane recovered. The Tigers run out the clock and take a 9 point lead into the locker room.

:49 Second Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

Park City now faces a 3rd and 8 on the Tigers 27 yard line. The Tigers defense has been tough since giving up 12 points early.

2:26 Second Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

A personal foul call on Hurricane has given Park City the ball on the Tigers 48 yard line. Less than two minutes for the Miners to get in the end zone.

4:52 Second Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

Park City starts their drive at the 25 yard line. This is a very important possession for the Miners. Hurricane gets the ball first to start the 2nd half so not scoring here could allow Hurricane to take control of this game. If Park City can score a touchdown we have a 1 or 2 point game going into halftime.

4:52 Second Quarter
Hurricane 21, Park City 12

A big 29 yard run by Jarom Healy set up a 1 yard run by...Jarom Healy. He has 70 yards rushing and 2 scores and the Tigers have scored 21 unanswered points.

5:28 Second Quarter
Hurricane 14, Park City 12

A personal foul on Park City has given the Tigers the ball at the 30 yard line. Momentum has really swung their way.

5:34 Second Quarter
Hurricane 14, Park City 12

After giving up 12 points to start the game, the Tigers defense has really tightened up. They just forced a three and out but Park City took a risk and went for it on 4th and 2. Mat Christensen took the pitch but was stuffed for a 1 yard loss. Hurricane has the ball on the Miners 39 yard line. Seems a little early to go for it on 4th down in your own territory.

9:15 Second Quarter
Hurricane 14, Park City 12

Hurricane quarterback Tim Long was under pressure and threw the ball at the feet of two of his lineman. There was no flag thrown on the play to the dismay of the Miners coaching staff. It would have been a 5 yard penalty and a loss of down making it 4th down. Instead, Jacob Pugh took the handoff on a counter on 3rd and 6 and scored a 14 yard touchdown. The Tigers have taken the lead.

9:39 First Quarter
Park City 12, Hurricane 7

Hurricane quarterback Tim Long kept the ball and rushed for 16 yards to the 17 yard line.

Jacob Pugh ended the quarter with a 13 yard run and the Tigers will begin the 2nd quarter on the Miners 40 yard line. What a great first quarter. Both teams are playing well.

:35 First Quarter
Park City 12, Hurricane 7

Big stop by the Tigers defense on 3rd and 5. Dylan Chynoweth only picked up two yards. After the punt Hurricane takes over on their own 32 yard line. After falling behind 12-0 the Tigers can take the lead on this drive.

2:25 First Quarter
Park City 12, Hurricane 7

Sorry Mr. Football. I meant to type 1st down instead of third down. Park City is now facing 3rd and 5 on their own 25 yard line.

2:35 First Quarter
Park City 12, Hurricane 7

Hurricane is on the board. Jarom Healy just busted into the end zone from 9 yards out. Extra point is good. This has been an excellent game so far.

3:34 First Quarter
Park City 12, Hurricane 0

So much for 2nd and 13. Zach Sorensen gets 19 yards down the sideline getting the Tigers across midfield. Jarom Healy just took off for 26 yards and the Tigers are in the red zone at the 15 yard line.

5:08 First Quarter
Park City 12, Hurricane 0

Down two scores Hurricane starts this possession with good field position at the 35 yard line but the Miners stuffed the run on 3rd down and it's 2nd and 13.

5:56 First Quarter
Park City 12, Hurricane 0

Park City has surprised everyone by coming out and throwing the ball. The Miners just went with the halfback pass. Andy Proctor threw a nice ball to Alex Molinaro for 28 yards down to the 7 yard line. Dylan Chynoweth capped off the drive with a 2 yard plunge for a touchdown. They went for two this time but failed.

7:30 First Quarter
Park City 6, Hurricane 0

On Park City's extra point attempt, the snap was high forcing them to go for two. I should have been more descriptive on that one.

8:57 First Quarter
Park City 6, Hurricane 0

Park City is not known for throwing the ball but quarterback Erik Walker just completed a nice pass to Mat Christensen for a 26 yard gain. Park City is driving on the tigers 35 yard line.

9:11 First Quarter
Park City 6, Hurricane 0

A rough start for Hurricane on offense. After bobbling the kickoff the Tigers had to start on their own ten yard line and after three downs are forced to punt. Park City has great field position at their own 45 yard line.

10:14 First Quarter
Park City 6, Hurricane 0

Those who follow Park City know how good Dylan Chynoweth has been this season. He has rushed for more than 2,000 yards and 33 touchdowns this season averaging more than 13 yards a carry. He is off to a great start today. He already has 57 yards on 3 carries. Mat Christensen finished off the drive with a 6 yard touchdown giving the Miners an early lead. The try for the two point conversion was no good.

12:00 First Quarter
Park City 0, Hurricane

Park City won the toss and received the kickoff which was a touchback. The Miners will start on their own 20 yard line.

12:00 First Quarter
Hurricane 0, Park City 0

Welcome to Day two of our coverage of the 3A Semifinals. Juan Diego is back in the state championship to defend their title and today we find out who their challenger will be. I love this matchup. These two evenly matched teams who run the wing T offense to perfection. Park City averages 47 points a game while Hurricane averages 36. Defensively both teams are tough as nails. Both teams play gritty smashmouth football. I think this is going to be our first nailbiter of the semifinals. We'll see if that turns out to be the case. Please feel free to post your questions and opinions in the comments section.
