(KSL News) -- Sandy police say a man stole two cars this morning, one after the other, working his way up toward stealing a Porshe.

Bryce Perry Wageman is accused of stealing a Mustang in Midvale. But police say he ditched that car when he spotted a Nissina Altima in Murray.

It appears he wanted one more upgrade, because he swapped the Nissian for a Porshe in Sandy. But this time, the Porshe's owner was just a few feet away.

James Gibas jumped on the hood of his Porshe, pulled Wageman out and threw him to the ground.

Gibas said his car thief was full of excuses.

James Gibas, Porshe Owner: "He told me he thought it was his buddy's car. Then he told me he just wanted to drive a Porshe and he wasn't gonna hurt it. He'd bring it back."

Police arrested Wageman on one count of second degree felony auto theft.
