(KSL News) More than a dozen people are out of their homes this morning after a two-alarm fire at a downtown apartment building.
The fire broke out in the top floor of the building at 215 South 300 East just after midnight.
An officer at the nearby police station actually discovered the blaze after smelling smoke.
Flames were confined to the attic, but residents were still evacuated due to heavy smoke throughout the building.
Kristen Lemon/ Resident: "We just heard banging on the windows and doors-- 'Get out! The whole apartment is on fire.'"
No one was injured.
The Red Cross is taking care of those displaced by the fire. All should be able to return to their apartments later today.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
