(KSL News) -- A Westminster College student was in federal court this morning, facing charges of possessing and distributing child pornography.
He is also charged with possessing firearms while taking illegal drugs.
Federal agents arrested Maxwell Powell and seized his computer at his off campus home late last week.

However, police say a Westminster campus security guard tipped Powell off to the federal investigation, giving Powell enough time to remove the original computer that he kept in his bedroom, and replace it with the one police confiscated.
That security guard has been charged.
If Powell is convicted, he could spend 20 years in prison.
