SALT LAKE CITY -- A burglar hit a Sugar House home Monday while no one was there. On Tuesday, the homeowner decided he would try to lure his suspect back -- and it worked.
Police say the homeowner left a pile of newspapers on the porch and mail in the mailbox to make it look like he wasn't home. When the burglar came back, he triggered what police call a "noise-making apparatus."
The homeowner jumped to his feet and chased the suspect on foot. A block away, some other neighbors joined in the chase. They eventually tackled Steven F. Young and held him until police arrived.
Police say Young was already wanted on other charges and they believe he's the man responsible for both burglaries.
