Admit it everybody, you're sick of it. Sick of the snow. Sick of the smog. Tired of being cold. Well, take heart. There is a spring in your future.
Slowly but surely the snow is disappearing and some of us are seeing something we haven't seen for months -- The ground! According to our weather experts at KSL, spring is actually here.
Reporter: “I’m in my own driveway with a story of frustration. Somewhere in this pile of grubby old snow is a $200 pair of glasses. I lost 'em while shoveling, way back at Christmas time. The trick is to find 'em before I hit 'em with my lawnmower.”
The good news is that golfing resumed over the weekend at Riverbend Golf Course. It's been shut down since Thanksgiving, the first seasonal shutdown ever. The snow is just now melting off the course.
Alan James, Riverbend Head Pro: "Fortunately we didn't find any lost golfers that got snowed in."
Everywhere you look you find hints that our future will be less snowy than our past. It's melting. Perhaps someone will find the lost car they've been looking for.
It's that delightful time of year when we shift from asthma-inducing smog to allergy-inducing pollen.
Dr. Alan Bitner, Allergist: "And we haven't quite broken into the pollen season yet, but last week i noticed some aspens were starting to bud."
KSL's weather team defines today as the first day of spring. That's because in terms of historic averages, the 91 coldest days of the year end on February 22nd--yesterday. Or maybe they're just wishing it was Spring.
Of course, in fairness, it ain’t over yet, folks.
Len Randolph, KSL Meteorologist: "March is the 3rd snowiest month of the year. Write that down!"
But like everyone we talked to today, we should be gracious and say, "But of course we need the moisture."
