LAS VEGAS -- Just four days after she missed a court date, former Mapleton City controller Jeannie Bell turned up in Las Vegas, where she is now in jail.
Bell is accused of stealing more than $5,000 from Mapleton City by using city money to buy stamps and gift cards, and then selling them on the Internet.
Acting on a tip, detectives learned Bell was in Las Vegas. They found out which hotel Bell was in, and the Central Utah Joint Apprehension Team arrested her.
She's in the Clark County Jail and will be returned to Utah where she faces a second-degree theft charge.
