(Layton-AP) -- A Northridge High School guidance counselor has been formally charged with having sex with a 17-year-old girl who was a student at the school.
Thirty-three-year-old Curtis Scott Ward of Layton was arrested last week and charged yesterday with two counts of first-degree felony rape.
Court documents allege Ward had sex with the 17-year-old student between November 2002 and March 2003. Police are investigating the incident as a rape because of the age difference and because of the counselor's position of special trust.
Ward says he is absolutely innocent.
If he's convicted, Ward could face five years to life in prison on each count.
