(KSL News) -- A car accident on I-15 appears to be a case of backseat and drunken driving at the same time.

The driver of a little red truck was sober, but his passenger was drunk. When the passenger awoke, for no apparent reason he yanked on the steering wheel.

The action slammed the car into the concrete sidewall, bounced it back into traffic where it grazed another car, and then...

Fred, Witness: "Then, uh, I don't know. It looked like the guy fell out of the car. Like his shoes came off and everything."

Highway troopers say the driver is unsure just why his passenger reacted that way.

The drunken man was airlifted to the hospital with injuries.
