(KSL News) Two missing 11-year-old children are safe this morning.

Jacob Mascaro and Theresa Rodriguez were found in good condition by police and volunteer searchers early this morning.

Theresa was the first to be found, just after midnight in a park on Emery Drive. Detectives say two male volunteers and an unidentified woman found the girl.

They say while she was very scared, she was safe, healthy, and happy to be reunited with her parents.

One of the volunteers said Theresa would not tell them anything about Jacob's whereabouts.

Mike Duggan/ Volunteer: "When we told her she wasn't in trouble, that people were just looking for her, just to come home, you know, and she would be okay-- she wouldn't give up any information about the boy."

Jacob was found by police shortly after 2:00 this morning. He was hiding in a crawl space at his mother's apartment building.

The pair were first reported missing shortly after 11 am yesterday when they left their school.

There was a lot of concern about the children's safety due to the fact that both are mentally challenged.

It's unclear why the children ran away--although police say they may have thought it was fun to hide from their parents.
