(Kearns-AP) -- A brazen thief stole a woman's car right before her eyes.
It happened yesterday as Erin Elliot was dropping her children off at her mother's house in Kearns.
Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies say she left her car running while she took her kids inside the home.
Deputies say as she returned to her car, she saw the male teenager drive away in her car, honking and waving as he left.
The car thief made off with Elliot's purse along with a three-thousand-dollar tax return check she just received.
Elliot's car is described as a 2003 teal green Ford Focus with the license plate number 5-0-0-W-G-Y.
