(Salt Lake City-AP) -- A Utah State Prison inmate is dead following treatment for stomach cancer.

66-year-old Frank McPhee died today at a hospital after two weeks of cancer treatment.

McPhee, who'd been in prison since 1988 on a conviction of sexually abusing a child, was due for a parole hearing next year.

Doctors at the University of Utah Medical Center attributed his death to a natural cause.

An autopsy is pending and required by law for inmates who die in prison.
