(South Jordan-AP) -- Residents of South and West Jordan and nearby areas who tried to dial 911 through the Internet were not able to do so yesterday for more than an hour.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office says people rarely call using the Internet.

Still, residents who subscribe to cable provider Comcast could not connect yesterday with emergency dispatch centers between 4:15 and 6 pm yesterday. The technical problem was with Comcast, sheriff's officials said.
