(KSL News) -- The health department uncovered an unhealthy mess in a Salt Lake City home located at 1884 S. Roberta Street.
Neighbors say the house reeked of urine and had several cats hanging around it, so they called Animal Services.
A health inspector found the home full of trash, and at least four cats.
Greg Clegg/Salt Lake Valley Health Dept.: "It was deplorable living conditions. There was feces all over, unkept, clutter, refuge, debris, garbage."
By the time animal services officers arrived, the cats had disappeared. They suspect the animals escaped through a broken window.
Inspectors condemned the home. The owner was hospitalized today because of stress.
