(KSL News) -- Families of Utah National Guardsmen, who recently got news that their loved ones are NOT coming home this week, met in Draper tonight, to have some of their questions answered.
430 soldiers from the 1457th Engineer Battalion who were deployed last May, were on their way home, when they got word they were to stay in the war zone.
The news hit the soldiers and their families hard.
But tonight, General Brian Tarbet met with some of those families, and answered questions from concerned relatives.
Marianne McNeil/Wife of Guardsman "We just want them to stay safe...as safe as they can be, because they're not going to be safe, they're in a war zone country. But, we're doing the right thing, we have to stay there, as President Bush said."
Some good news did come out of the meeting.
All military members deployed for more than one year in Afghanistan or Iraq, will now be entitled to an additional one-thousand dollars per month.
