SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Only three young women have applied to be contestants in this year's Miss Provo Scholarship Pageant.
The pageant is June 12 at Timpview High School and the deadline for applying is April 27.
Pageant director Judi Dayton and her committee hope more women will sign up, but the show will go on regardless.
The pageant already has paid its franchise fee to the Miss America Pageant organization,
While this is the first time fewer than six have applied, Dayton does not see a pattern of declining interest. She said eight women participated in each of the last two years.
The women must be age 17 to 22 and a resident of Provo for at least six months and need to have a talent.
