(Manti-AP) -- Sanpete County Sheriff's officers are investigating the death of a 35-year-old Manti man whose body was found near Manti Canyon.

Officers say John Matthew Madsen was last seen April 7 and was reported missing April 12.

The sheriff's office says Madsen's vehicle was found abandoned Sunday on a sheep trail south of Manti Canyon and appears to have gotten stuck.

Madsen's tracks led search and rescue officers from the truck down to a rugged area of Funks Canyon where they discovered Madsen's body.

The body has been sent to the coroner's office to determine his cause of death. The case is still under investigation.
