CLEARFIELD -- An argument and excessive speeding led to a fatal accident on Interstate 15 on Sunday. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the driver of a Chevy Cobalt was speeding down the freeway near Clearfield just before 5 p.m.
The front passenger and driver got into an argument about how fast they were traveling. Troopers said the passenger grabbed the steering wheel, and the driver overcorrected and lost control of the car.
The car veered off the freeway and into oncoming traffic before rolling. Troopers said one of the passengers in the back, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. She died at the scene. Three others were injured.
Troopers had to close several lanes of traffic, which caused major delays in the area. There were several other minor accidents due to the fatal crash.
