(KSL News) A bizzare storm leaves I-15 in shambles in Weber County.

State troopers shut down all north and southbound lanes near Roy last night to clear crashes involving 10 to 12 vehicles.

The Highway Patrol says a hailstorm pounded the freeway around 10:30 last night, creating a sheet of ice on the roadway. UHP called in help from Weber County, Davis Highway Patrol, and Roy City to assist them.

Troopers say weather wasn't the only thing that caused the pile-up last night.

Sgt. Don Sagendorf/ Utah Highway Patrol: "Weather's always a contributing factor, but our message is the same-- drivers really need to pay attention to what is going on around them."

Two trucks rolled on the southbound side of the freeway and a semi was also damaged. UHP says many drivers wore their seatbelts and that saved them from more injuries. Only two were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
