(Salt Lake City-AP) -- A 45-year-old man accused of putting pie tins of poisoned tuna out in his yard is being charged in the death of four cats in his neighborhood.

Derk Liljenquist was charged yesterday with four counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals.

Police investigating the deaths earlier this month noticed a pie tin with tuna in a driveway and saw Liljenquist throwing other pie tins into the trash can.

Police say he admitted mixing poison with the tuna fish and leaving it out in the driveway because he was tired of having cats in his yard.
