LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- A Hyrum woman accused of setting her parents' home on fire and attacking a police officer has been sentenced to spend at least 32 more days in the Cache County Jail, followed by treatment at a halfway house for mental illness.
"I strongly believe I can make it with some counseling," Camille Kidman Jensen, 35, said before being sentenced Tuesday by 1st District Court Judge Thomas L. Willmore.
Jensen pleaded no contest in January to second-degree felony arson in the Aug. 13 fire, and pleaded guilty in February to class-A misdemeanor assault by a prisoner.
After her arrest, Jensen spent 53 days in jail before being released on her own recognizance.
She was arrested again in January for kicking a Logan police officer who was attempting to break up a fight between her and an ex-boyfriend at a Logan apartment complex.
Jensen returned to jail for an additional 42 days and was then sent to the Utah State Prison for a 60-day mental health evaluation in March.
Jensen, who suffers from a bipolar disorder, has been in and out of counseling for years and has gone long periods without taking her medication.
"Your actions have been escalating and you've become more and more dangerous to yourself and others," Willmore said.
Willmore ordered that Jensen participate in the inpatient program at the Orange Street facility in Salt Lake City as soon as space was available.
Jensen also was ordered to take all medications prescribed by her doctor, undergo substance abuse therapy and pay $18,497 in restitution for damage caused by the fire.
