(KSL News) -- People in a large part Southern Utah don't have -emergency or long distance telephone service tonight.

Cell phones and pagers don't work either.

A construction company cut a fiberoptic cable.

One person told us that electronic transactions, such as credit card machines, have also been affected.

If you need emergency help, rather than trying to call 9-1-1, dial your city police department directly.

Residents in Sevier County with a 527 prefix can call 435-527-3892 or 435-527-4717, in an emergency.
