(KSL News) -- Hogle Zoo is bringing a little more ambience of Africa to its animals.
They broke ground today for "Elephant Encounter", a project to give the zoo's elephants and white rhinos more than three times the space they have now.
The new habitat aims to re-create an African watering hole to give the animals more room to roam and play.
This natural setting is supposed to open next spring and is part of a $10.2 million bond issue voters approved last November.
