(KSL News) -- An 11-year-old Idaho boy is safe after getting lost and spending the night in Middle Canyon west of Salt Lake City.
Kyle Reid's parents reported him missing Sunday night after he wandered away from his siblings.
The Tooele County Sheriff says the boy walked about five miles in rugged terrain without his shoes. He lost those early in the hike.
The boy eventually went to sleep and when he woke up early Monday he found a trail and was spotted by mountain bikers who took him to where search and rescue crews.
