Breaking News -- Standoff Involving Hostage in Salt Lake

(KSL News) -- Police and SWAT teams have surrounded a house on the west side of Salt Lake City.

This is a hostage situation. Police say two men stormed inside the home near 900 south and 900 west just before 3:00 today.

Breaking News -- Standoff Involving Hostage in Salt Lake

They were intending to rob the home, but found three people inside -- two men in their twenties and a woman in her thirties.

One man safely got out of the home and ran to a nearby fire station where he called police.

The other man was in the basement at the time. Police say he walked up the stairs and saw that the suspects had the woman tied up at gunpoint. He also safely got out of the home.

Police have swarmed the area and warned neighbors to stay in their basements until the standoff is over.

At this time it is not known if the victims know the suspects.

Police are in the process of trying to contact the people inside the home.
