(KSL News) Summit County authorities say the bone fragments found in Middle Fork of Weber Canyon over the weekend are human.
Now, officials will attempt to identify the fragments using DNA analysis, which is expected to take weeks.
Investigators say the bones were found near a makeshift camp site with clothing and personal hiking items.
They were also near the area where Carole Wetherton, of Florida, and her daughter, Kimberly Beverly, of Georgia disappeared last September.
