(KSL News) A Salt Lake County family awoke this morning to flames coming from their basement.

Crews responded just after 4:00 this morning to the home at 3277 West 4740 South, after receiving a call from a neighbor.

There was heavy fire coming from the corner of the basement, causing firefighters to call a second alarm.

About 40 firefighters responded and were able to douse the flames after 6 am. Crews are right now mopping up hotspots.

The family made it out safely and no firefighters were hurt. The house sustained about $100,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
