(KSL News) -- The VA Medical Center is expanding its care and has a new place to offer patients therapeutic and holistic healing.
The new Healing Ground offers patients a place for reflection and meditation. The garden's special features include an American Indian sweat lodge, medicinal plants, outdoor sculpture and a drumming area -- among other things.
James Floyd, Director, VA Salt Lake City Health Care System: "All intended to be an alternative, and in addition to the care we provide, so it really reaches into the soul and spirit of th patients."
The healing ground had been in planning for two years. The new gardens now occupy a space that was once filled by black asphault.
