LAYTON -- Fire tore through an abandoned house Tuesday afternoon in Layton.
Flames and smoke poured billowed from the home near 200 East and Gentile Street, but firefighters were able to put the fire out before it damaged anything else.
Investigators say someone started the fire because the house had no utilities and was already scheduled for demolition.
Firefighters say transients often stay there, but they searched the house and did not find anyone.
No one was injured.
