SALT LAKE CITY -- Two men nominated to help control the sale of alcohol in Utah will go before lawmakers Tuesday to answer questions.
Sen. John Valentine, R-Orem, says he is more interested to know about the nominees' open mindedness rather than their drinking habits.
"I really don't think it matters whether we have drinkers or non-drinkers specifically," Valentine tells KSL Newsradio. "I think what's important is that the members have balance in their minds as to the need for public safety versus hospitality. "
The nominees are Dr. Richard Sperry who works as a University of Utah associate vice president for health sciences, and Jeff Wright, who founded a communications company.
If both men are confirmed to the commission, it will consist of three drinkers and two non-drinkers.
