Whit Johnson ReportingA thick, soupy fog has rolled into parts of the Salt Lake Valley. It's so thick that some flights into Salt Lake International Airport are being sent to other Utah airports.
The cancellations, delays, and diversions mean hundreds of travelers are having problems, tonight.

We've been talking to stranded, frustrated airline passengers from Ogden to Provo. A lot of planes were diverted to those smaller airports because of the fog at Salt Lake International.
Ashley Zanolli / Stranded Passenger: "I've been at the airport since five o'clock this morning. So basically, when it comes down to it, I could have driven from Seattle and I would be here now."
They're tired, they're angry, and they're ready to go home. Hundreds of passengers were unable to land at Salt Lake International Airport tonight. When the sun went down, the fog rolled in.

As many as four SkyWest planes were diverted to Ogden Hinckley Airport. At least 250 passengers were stuck.
Ashley Zanolli / Stranded Passenger: "No one knows what's going on. The pilot doesn't know. Everyone's just kind of hanging. So many people are in the same situation, they're just completely overwhelmed. I really don't think they have the resources to deal with the situation right now."
At Provo Airport, it's a similar story. Several planes that were supposed to land in Salt Lake City were forced to change course.
Some passengers found other ways to get home, while the rest waited on the planes.
Ira Astrachan / Pilot: "When the weather goes below the visibility minimum, you have no choice. You can't land at that airport. You have to go somewhere else. With the amount of fuel left on the airplane, the choice made by the company was to land in Provo."
Officials with Salt Lake International Airport say planes landed on a case-by-case basis. Some just did not have the technical capabilities to work through the fog.
If you're flying, or picking up someone at Salt Lake International, you're encouraged to check with the airlines. Delays and cancellations will likely continue through the night.
