SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Bingham Canyon Mine visitors center will close for the season on Nov. 1.

The visitors center closes each winter because of the weather and reopens in the spring when road and weather conditions improve.

The visitors center is tentatively scheduled to reopen in April.

Visitors to the mine can watch giant electric shovels and large trucks carry 300 tons of rock. The visitors center also has exhibits and videos that tell the state's mining history.
