SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- More than 1,000 teens appeared at the school where it all began as talent scouts held auditions for "High School Musical 2."
The first movie was filmed at East High School, a love story between a basketball jock and a nerd who upset their school's social order by auditioning for lead roles in a musical.
"High School Musical" was a big hit for The Walt Disney Co.
The audition "was fun but I don't know if I'll make it. There were a lot of people," said Madi Lyman, 15, of Sandy, who has danced for a decade.
Indeed, Brityn Mykhail, 14, traveled from Colorado to dance for just 30 seconds Wednesday. She was invited for a second audition Thursday.
"Disney Channel didn't expect it to be this big, but it's just so easy for us to relate to," Brityn said of the first movie.
