SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Zions Bank is taking on dozens of employees who are being laid off by Washington Mutual Bank branches that are closing in Utah and Idaho.
The bank announced the closing of their commercial banking locations in Utah and 13 other states on July 29th. About 850-people in the 53 commercial banking branches across the country are being laid off.
Zions Bank says it's hiring about 17 former Washington Mutual employees in Utah and 22 in Idaho.
Zions Bank officials say the employees bring with them extensive experience and are highly regarded in their communities.
Zions operates 133 full service branches throughout Utah and Idaho.
