SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Salt Lake City police dog is in New York being treated for an aggressive form of cancer.
J-J the bloodhound is seven years old. He's a K-9 tracking dog. His owner and trainer is Salt Lake City police officer Mike Serio.
J-J has been recognized nationally for his tracking, and he might hold the department's record for finding missing people and lawbreakers. As of last spring, J-J had logged 216 successful finds.
J-J is currently undergoing the first in a series of treatments that Serio and his co-workers hope will save the dog's life. J-J and Serio will go to New York every other week for the next 10 weeks for treatment.
