LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- The U-S Postal Service will unveil a new set of commemorative stamps today called Cloudscapes, and it's left one Utah photographer with his head -- well -- in the clouds.
Scott T- Smith is a Logan based freelance photographer. He was one of ten photographers to have their work chosen for the series.
Smith's photograph in the set was taken at sunset near Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1988.
Smith was contacted in 1997 by a photo-research company hired by the Postal Service to seek out the best cloud images.
Nearly 200 of his photographs containing clouds were chosen for consideration. One of his images made the final cut and is featured on the second row of the pane of 15 cloud images.
Smith will be recognized at the Logan post office tomorrow morning. He will receive a framed enlargement of his stamp, a framed sheet of Cloudscapes stamps and five-thousand dollars for use of the photograph.
One-hundred-twenty-five (M) million copies of Cloudscapes will be issued to the public after its release today in Boston.
