(KSL News) -- Salt Lake City police mourned one of their own officers today. Karl Gabbitas was laid to rest in Salt Lake City.
Gabbitas died of a heart attack Monday while on an off-duty assignment. He and his wife, who is also a Salt Lake City police officer, were helping direct traffic around a construction crew.
Gabbitas worked for the department for 14 years. He was 44.
