(KSL News) -- The former Iron County Sheriff isn't going to jail, but faces a stack of other punishments.
David "Dude" Benson was sentenced today to 36 months supervised probation, a $2,000 fine and six months house arrest.
The judge ordered him to pay restitution of nearly $19,000 and to maintain full-time employment.
Benson initially faced eight charges stemming from allegations he stole money from the sheriff's department and used his position to cover up unethical or illegal activity.
As part of a plea deal, Benson plead guilty to two felony counts of obstructing justice and misusing public money.
